Synopsis
Hooligan. Bouncer. Author. Legend.
CASS is the incredible, true story of an orphaned Jamaican baby, adopted by an elderly, white, working-class couple and brought up in the East End of London in 1950’s England.
CASS grew up in a time before political correctness and was forced to endure racist bullying on a daily basis. With only one route to school, he would run the gauntlet every day, often arriving battered and bruised. Eventually there came a time when CASS would either have to stand up or forever walk through life as a victim. On one fateful day the years of pent up anger and pain came out in an explosive burst of violence. From then on he would never be bullied again. CASS found through violence the respect he had never had, but more than this, he enjoyed the buzz of fighting.
After a trip to see West Ham, CASS was hooked, eventually becoming leader of the ICF, one of the most feared and infamous football firms in England. Knives, bricks, bats, axes and hammers all became tools of the trade and every Saturday, brutal and bloody battles would occur in the streets across the nation, each man fighting for the respect of his club. CASS was known throughout the land, appearing on television and in the newspaper headlines, but one day his notoriety came back to haunt him. At an away game in Sheffield a fan was fatally stabbed. CASS was connected to the crime and sent to prison for three years.
Upon his release CASS formed one of London’s most notorious door crews and worked some of the roughest clubs in the city, often having to employ the fighting skills he learnt in the street and, on one particular night having to defend the club against rioting gangs from across the city.
It was whilst working at one of these clubs that CASS was shot three times. His inner strength kept him alive that night but his hardest challenge still lied ahead – whether to seek vengeance, as the street had taught him, or renounce his violent past…
This is the extraordinary story of his life.
